Mini Face Lift / Rhytidectomy Surgery in Vancouver
As we age our facial skin and soft tissues undergo numerous changes, including loss of elasticity, sagginess, thinning, loss of volume and sun damage. These changes result in the characteristic signs of an aging face; line and wrinkle formation, jowls, down-turned mouth, heavy cheek folds, cheek flattening and descent.
In select individuals where the above changes are modest, a mini-facelift may be indicated. Typically candidates for a mini-facelift are somewhere between their late 30’s and early 50’s, with minimal to modest signs of aging in their necks also. A mini-facelift is called a ‘mini’ as it performed through a shorter incision located around the ear, it is also significantly shorter in duration and as a result it is also less expensive.
Whilst a mini-facelift doesn’t halt the aging process it can ‘set the clock back’ by 10 years in many cases. When performed correctly a mini-facelift should not result in a ‘windswept’ or ‘operated-on’ appearance that is frequently seen in movie stars and celebrities after poorly executed surgeries. The goal instead is to create a visibly younger and healthier appearing self without the telltale signs of surgery.

The Surgical Experience
Facelift procedure is performed under local anaesthesia with twilight sedation as an outpatient procedure in an accredited surgical facility. The length of the surgery will vary, but it generally takes between 3-4 hours. This surgery is considered an outpatient procedure. After surgery, patients will be dressed with a head wrap that is removed 2 days after surgery. There will be mild bruising and swelling of the face and neck. This will gradually improve within a few days. The scars associated with facelift are usually well hidden within the curvatures of the ear and within the hairline, and will fade over time. Most patients will need 1 week off work following surgery, and can resume full activities after 6 weeks.
Cost
Prices begin at $13,000 for a mini or modified / short scar facelift, but increase with full facelifts which includes a comprehensive neck and midface lift, and may include fat grafting. Prices are bespoke depending on each clinical case and its requirements.

Younger patients aged 40-50 years can benefit from mini facelift procedures. As the patient ages, volume loss can occur in the face, so additional fat grafting is frequently performed in addition to skin tightening to create a fuller, more youthful appearance. In patients under 40, non-surgical techniques are usually recommended.
